"LOSST IN MUSIC"
We are excited to announce that we are running another national composer competition which involves the setting of poetry, on the theme of loss, to music for performance by young voices (KS2).
First of all we put out a call for suitable poems, which are currently being judged. Shortlisted poems will be set to music in the next stage of the competition. The winning songs will be published in a book and sung by thousands of school children.
We will be making further announcements soon so be sure to come back here or visit our Facebook page for further details if you are interested in composing a song!
Below are details of our previous composer competition:
Premier performances of six compositions by some of the UK’s best young choral composers were given by award winning mixed voice choir, KVU Singers at the FiNAL6 concert.
With guest performances by young soloists Samantha Oxborough (Mezzo) and Thom Hardaker (Accordian), the finale of this new national competition was sure to inspire our next generation of budding young musicians.
Three finalists in each age group competed for the title of Jessica Foxley Young Choral Composer of the Year. The winners were:
Douglas McIntosh - under 19 age group
Samuel Wilson - 19-25 age group
