Jessica Lauren Foxley

19 March 1988 - 25 July 2009

Jessica was a passionate and talented musician. She died at the age of 21 in a car crash along with her boyfriend Tom and one of his friends who was driving.

Jessica Foxley Music Projects was set up in 2010 in Jessica's memory. As a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers it aims to provide high profile performance and composition opportunities for young musicians.

Working in partnership with other organisations, various projects have been developed which benefit both individual young musicians and the host organisations by giving public exposure to outstanding young musicians and hence introducing fresh, young talent.

Jessica Foxley Unsigned

for young Blues musicians

Soon after losing their daughter and sister, Jessica's parents, Paul and Margaret and her brother, Oliver decided they wanted to do something to help young musicians develop their skills. At that stage they had no idea what form the project would take...

Jessica Foxley Unsigned (formerly The Jessica Foxley Stage) was set up in 2010 in memory of Jessica, providing high profile performance opportunities for young musicians. It is part of the Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival held over the August Bank Holiday every year in Colne.

Jessica Foxley Composer Competition

Realising how successful the first Jessica Foxley Music Project had become, Paul & Margaret started looking for another opportunity to give a helping hand to young musicians. Both being members of a choir, it was perhaps inevitable that the idea should come to them to run a competition for composers of choral music.........

The first composer competition culminated in our Final6 Concert in November 2014 and was an outstanding success. We are now organising our second composer competition, LOSST IN MUSIC, which takes a somewhat different format, involving the setting of new poetry to music for performance by thousands of school children.

“It will be a great opportunity for both the composers and the choir and means I still get to make music with KVU Singers even though I am no longer a member.”
